Library Services

Reference services, literature searches, document delivery and interlibrary loans, current awareness alerting services, loans, purchasing of library materials for departments. Internet and database use training and computers to access the Internet and Microsoft Office. Internet access to full text journals, books and other information. Databases such as Medline, CINAHL, PsycINFO, EMBASE, AMED and the Cochrane Library.

The collection comprises approximately 12,000 books and 600 periodical titles focussing on clinical and diagnostic medicine, nursing, allied health, and management.

Membership

Membership of the Library is free to all staff of the hospital, and tertiary students while they are based at the hospital. For those who wish to use the library and do not fall into these categories, the following charges apply:

Day member	$2.00     per day
Student (not attached to RPH)	$20.00   per annum
Individual	$100.00 per annum

User Education

Assistance is available for those who would like assistance with database or internet searching, either on a one-to-one basis or by appointment. Alternatively, you may wish to attend 'Introduction to Information Retrieval', held on the first Wednesday of each month. Please phone the Library to make a booking

Purchasing for your Department

Submit a purchase requisition to the library, including a Head of Department signature and the cost centre to be charged. Please include as much information as you have about the item. Advantages of buying through the library include: cheaper prices, full access to books held within the hospital through the catalogue, and therefore the prevention of unnecessary duplication of resources.

Videoconferencing in the Library

The Library now has a videoconferencing room for use by hospital staff. For bookings or enquiries regarding the facilities please see the Telehealth intranet site.
